It looks like we got several suggestions for 8th seeds in our inaugural Video Game March Madness. We’ve decided to put together polls for you to decide on the outcome of which game secures the 8th seed and makes it into the tourney, which will kick off on Monday. I will post more info on Monday’s entry as to how the voting and stuff will work out, but for now, all you need to know is that you should vote on which game you want as each category’s 8th seed between now and Sunday night, March 21st, 8PM EST. At that point the 8th seeds will close and the bracket will be finalized with voting on the first round kicking off on Monday March 22nd. So for now, please either vote on the polls within this entry or on the sidebar – they are the same polls. And feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!

The Hodj Podj section is pretty crazy. Since this is our first video game March Madness tourney, we’re still learning as we go. I am hoping we will get to 64 games next year and allow for a lot more reader suggestions rather than forcing just one game out of such a large list. Bear with us!

Wasn’t Counter Strike a mod of Half Life?
ya counter-strike was a mod for half life, but it ended up getting a retail release so in a way, it technically counts for our bracket since you could buy it in the store. i remember this since i bought one for myself so that I could play cs at the same time as my brother, who used the half-life cd key for his counter-strike…

yes! I played star control 2! I played it in maybe like 6th or 7th grade i think, which meant that was in the early 90s and I was barely even a teenager then.
I probably played this before Street Fighter 2 in the arcades, so this was the original “street fighter 2″ for me. i can’t believe me and other kids in school would crowd around a PC to pick our starships and go at it in versus mode. good times. don’t know if it holds up today though haha
Lol Star Control 2!! wow I played that game for hours on end – i forget on which system (NES?)
Wow I’m just remembering more and more of Star Control 2 now…rememebering the different ships now – how some of them were clear counters – like the flying saucer one with the tracking laser – countered the strongest ship because the saucer would fly circles around it all day and the big ship couldn’t turn fast enough. lol awesome.
