espion4ge and cmfl3x after a successful co-op mission

When espion4ge and I booted up the new (free) Portal 2 DLC Peer Review, it was NOT like running into an old friend. The game seems so foreign now! It’s kind of crazy since it’s only been a few months, but it took awhile for me to get used to playing again. So how is the free DLC? The price is right, but Portal might be starting to dim for me.

Err…I think Battlefield 3 still has some kinks to work out

Even though I’m a Call of Duty player at heart, I’ve always held some interest in the Battlefield series (console versions). I really enjoyed Bad Company 1, and when 1943 came out, I put a lot of time in it, especially considering it was just a downloadable game. I have enjoyed the different feel of the game along with the different game types which have previously provided much needed variety in my multiplayer experiences. Admittedly, I don’t understand what this means as much as PC gamers might, but supposedly the words “Battlefield” and “3″ being put together into one phrase is supposed to be a pretty big deal. With that in mind, I jumped into the Battlefield beta over the past week, both on PC and Xbox. Unfortunately, I’m not sure the beta lives up to the hype.

Not an actual picture of me

espion4ge stole my thunder a bit on Tuesday, but I have been leveling down a bit more of late as well. I’m not sure if it’s by choice though – I think I’m getting a little too old for this. How do I know? Let me count the ways.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution looks great, although I’ve been getting nauseous – not sure if it’s me or the game

Someone told me that Deus Ex: Human Revolution = Alpha Protocol on steroids. I’m not sure if that is accurate, but I know I loved Alpha Protocol so I was pretty excited about this game. I’ve gotten to play through it a bit over the past weekend, so I thought I’d put up my impressions.

Modern Warfare Revisited

Modern Warfare felt like you were playing through a movie – in an awesome way

It’s been almost four years since the original Modern Warfare came out. For some reason, this past week I’ve been feeling nostalgic, so instead of opening up Deus Ex, I decided to play through the Modern Warfare campaign for the seventh or eighth time. I aim to play through both Modern Warfare titles before the release of the third and final installment, just to get some sort of grasp on the crazy storyline that is taking place. Playing through the game, I’m incredibly impressed about what a tight campaign Modern Warfare presents. Spoiler warnings by the way, but of course if you haven’t played this game yet……

I no longer own all three of these…

When the Wii hit the market in 2006, I really, really wanted one. I tried to line up, but failed, used the Wiiseeker to try to find shipments – failed. I finally managed to get my hands on one, although I don’t totally remember how. Five years later, I have finally said goodbye to my Wii (gave it to my parents). Unfortunately, I have far less pleasant memories with the Wii than I would have hoped.

Fall 2011 – is this the best you have to offer?

I’ve been super busy with work and life recently. I don’t think I’ve played a video game for five days straight or something! In the interim, I’ve been thinking about what games I’m anticipating for the fall season. Shockingly, I’m coming up zeroes! For every game I think of, I think of a bunch of reasons why I’m not excited. What’s wrong with me!?

We’re dancing!

I had planned to pick up Alpha Protocol when it was released last year, but middling reviews caused me to pass. One Steam sale later, I am the proud owner of Alpha Protocol, and over the past two weeks I’ve gotten the chance to take the game out for a spin. Did this spy RPG deserve all the criticism it received?

My wife um, took the dog and me for a three hour hike this morning. In the midst of getting lost, cmr3x chasing squirrels, and being grumpy, I had a lot of time to think about what I wanted to write today. Mrs. cmfl3x said I should write about how my gaming habits reflect my life habits and vice versa. If I’m gonna let her convince me to hike for three hours, I might as well write what she says too!

HEY! Why are you still playing LA Noire!?

Unfortunately, I’m getting pretty sick of LA Noire, so this review might be a little tainted. Reefer Madness is an amazing name for a piece of DLC, so it’s unfortunate I’ve gotten tired of LA Noire’s gameplay. Still, if you still want more LA Noire (or have the Rockstar Pass), Reefer Madness isn’t a bad way to go.
