In Special Ops, two is always better than one

espion4ge and I finally finished our week long quest to conquer Modern Warfare 2’s Special Ops so I figured I’d write a little bit about it. This is the last I’ll write about Modern Warfare 2 ever…maybe. Anyway, if you haven’t checked out Special Ops yet, I highly recommend you find a friend and get to it! Hit the jump to see why.

With Modern Warfare 2 being the biggest title of this holiday season (and probably the year), many gamers may pick this up and are interested in getting into the multiplayer, but are overwhelmed by all of the things that Modern Warfare 2 expects the player to understand. That’s where this article comes in. I’m writing this article from a viewpoint of you as a reader having never played any of the recent Call of Duty games online (but of course, I’m hoping you’ll have understood general first person shooter mechanics). In this article, I’ll explain what perks are, kill-streak rewards, leveling up, general strategies and tips for improving your game, etc. I will focus the article towards Team Deathmatch, since it is the most popular mode for Call of Duty multiplayer games and the easiest one to learn. Once you digest this information, the skills you learn for Team Deathmatch will be more than enough if you decide to move towards more the objective-based multiplayer modes in the future.

So you picked up Borderlands and want to play with other people but don’t know where to start? Unlike other FPS games on the 360 with co-op, Borderlands requires you to pick a class type and sticking with it through to the end. Therefore, picking the one that best suits your playstyle is vital.

In many ways, Borderlands shares similarities to MMORPGs I’ve played in the past, and I will bring some of those tips here to those of you new to Borderlands with little experience playing MMORPGs. Look here for some tips on how to play nicely with strangers or even friends.

One caveat: I have yet to really get to the endgame for this, so many of my tips here are from my MMORPG experience as well as consolidating all of the relevant Borderlands information I found online. Some of it may apply and some may not, but this is what is going through my head as I prep for Borderlands with buddies.

Firefight may seem daunting at first - especially the achievements that require you to get 200,000 points on every map. The first time I played Firefight with some friends, we ended up with only 60,000 points and 200K seemed impossible. Yet two weeks later, I realize that getting 200K on each map can be relatively straightforward, provided you go in with a gameplan and follow some basic strategies. I decided to put together a short guide, first with general strategies and then map specific tips. I’ve also included a strategy for getting the Vidmaster: Endure achievement. These tips are by no means exhaustive, but should give you a head start on conquering Firefight! Since this is a relatively long post for our blog, you can find everything after the jump.

Want that single gamer point? Be prepared to put in many hours for it…

Surprisingly, while the game got relatively negative reviews, I found Infinite Undiscovery to be pretty enjoyable and have already picked up tri-Ace’s next 360 RPG: Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Unfortunately for me, it looks to be even more crazy and hardcore than Infinite Undiscovery, but one game at a time I guess.

This list of tips and notes is what I put together as I was playing through the game for the third time – the Infinity difficulty mode. For those of you that are playing it on Normal difficulty or Hard difficulty, the tips that I give in this article will still generally be valid. I prefer to write guides for the hardest difficulty of a game since it can address every difficulty mode. Keep in mind though that I will be mentioning spoilers as well since I will assume you have already beaten the game once or twice and need help with a playthrough on a harder difficulty. Can you believe that the prison escape at the beginning of the game is perhaps the most difficult part of Infinity Mode?

I’ve been struggling to look for a printable movelist that cut down on number of pages as well as amount of color ink used yet still managed to incorporate some of the cool artwork for the game. I never found one, so I put together one myself  based on what I found online. That way, if you’re playing with some friends and those that aren’t playing want to check out movelists for their characters, they can just look through this.

Warning: it’s a pdf. 9 pages, with about 3 characters per page but pretty ink friendly compared to what else is out there. I recommend printing it double sided so it ends up being 5 pages total (4 pages front & back and a 5th page front only). Enjoy!

Having recently gotten the Achievement for completing all of the Left 4 Dead campaigns on Expert difficulty with my gaming crew, I figured I’d share some tips while the game is still fresh on my mind. These tips will be useful on any difficulty, but I recommend studying them carefully if you want to tackle Expert.

I’ll break the tips up into various categories: General Tips, Dealing with the Special Infected, Weapons, and the Expert Finales.
