My wife um, took the dog and me for a three hour hike this morning. In the midst of getting lost, cmr3x chasing squirrels, and being grumpy, I had a lot of time to think about what I wanted to write today. Mrs. cmfl3x said I should write about how my gaming habits reflect my life habits and vice versa. If I’m gonna let her convince me to hike for three hours, I might as well write what she says too!

For any hardcore or old-school gamer, Capcom is one of the biggest bright spots in the gaming industry. With franchises like Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Mega Man, Dead Rising, and Phoenix Wright, it just seems like they have a great portfolio of games that gamers want to play. But recently, I’ve started to get a little bit peeved over their various decisions but it wasn’t until this past week that I feel like they’ve really sold out. Let’s examine the evidence.

Team Fortress 2 is some crazy, backstabbing fun

I tried out Team Fortress 2 when I got the Orange Box on Xbox, but there weren’t many people playing and the game seemed way too crazy to learn without help. TF2 just went free to play on Steam, so I decided to try it again and give it a whirl. It definitely still is crazy, but a good kind of crazy. Medic!

My new babies…

I’ve been itching for a new computer for years. I’ve been playing Starcraft on my work issued laptop, which is really not very good (it lags even on all the low settings). When I found out I wasn’t going to receive a new laptop from work, I decided it was time to buy a desktop. This led to a bit of a kerfluffle with Mrs. cmfl3x, compounded by this: Two days after I ordered the computer, work announced that we would be receiving new laptops! Two computers for the price of one! YAY!

L.A Noire & Heavy Rain – two games that should not be missed for their excellent storylines.

I have some games that I can write reviews on, but I’ve been lazy the last few days so I’m just going to write about what I’ve been up to lately. In the last couple of weeks I’ve been spending a lot of time playing games that cmfl3x has already beaten and reviewed, so I’ll use this entry to sort of give my quick viewpoint on each of the ones I’ve beaten lately. I also hit 100,000 Gamerscore on my Xbox Live account recently, which will probably be the last gaming milestone of my life so I’ll toot my horn a little on that.

Check out the new Wii University controller! What the…

I don’t have time at work (or at home, for that matter) to keep up with every single thing going on at E3. Still, I like to stay abreast of what’s going on, and some things are EXCITE, while others are…meh. Then there is the stuff that just makes me say, “What the…” After the jump, I detail what’s what from E3.

Microsoft hasn’t forgotten the hardcore gamers – there’s Sesame Street!

I’ve been so busy in life lately that I actually forgot about E3 already being under way. I know that big titles like Modern Warfare 3 and Elder Scrolls V are coming out at the end of this year, but does Microsoft have any interesting games up its sleeves? Weren’t there supposed to be Kinect games for hardcore gamers announced this year? Why have you forsaken the hardcore gamer, Microsoft?

Although it has been a bit of slow burn, my frustration with Sony has reached a fever pitch of late. Deep down, the rational part of me knows that nothing vital has been compromised (probably) and that any current, relevant credit card information is safe (probably). But really, I’m annoyed by this whole fiasco, and haven’t turned my Playstation 3 on since it happened. Commence rant!

I’m making a note here: huge success.

So Portal 2 came out this week, but unfortunately, I’m out of town so I haven’t even gotten to open the shrink wrap. Last week, I replayed the original in anticipation. Does the game still hold up after a few years?

A sign created by a Gamestop to commemorate today’s launch of two major titles

I started writing up a review for the most recent game I completed, Fable 3, but am finding myself struggling to write reviews in general these days so I decided to just write about something more exciting. Today is the release of Portal 2 and the new Mortal Kombat game. It’s Portal Kombat day!
