well, seems like the usual suspects bought this game – Jason, eeyore, and myself…so starting a thread in case you guys want to talk about it.

The game is freaking fast and so much is going on I don't know how to keep up with it. Still trying to figure out my squad right now – it's tough!

This game is so much fun!  eeyore and I have been playing since last week – (someone we know got an early copy and we've all met up a few times already).

Last night was my first night with the game at home in training mode.  Soooo different from mvc2, but the same crazy action lol.  I'm really not used to the new button layout and have already lost 3 straight online matches to a friend, so I'm starting off with a 0-3 record lol.  I do like how the game has a win/loss record now for online matches.

My team right now is Thor, Phoenix, and Sentinel.  It will probably change as I learn how much Thor sucks and how boring Sentinel is.

espion4ge, I think you should use Dante – weren't you a big fan of the DMC series?  Plus I hear he has everything in the game.

ya Dante is definitely my guy. Right now I am leaning towards Dormammu, Morrigan, and Dante. I never played MvC2 seriously though, so I need to figure out if my team "works well" together. Don't you have to have each of the three members play a different role? Sort of like how one builds up meter for another?

I'm thinking I would play keep away first with Dormammu, and then transition towards Morrigan and eventually clean up with Dante. But I'm still trying to learn the game and process everything. There's just too much going on at once that I am afraid to play against a real player!

Yea the team aspect is what makes this game "deep."  Right now my Thor/Phoenix/Sentinel team works likes this:

Thor builds meter while using the Sentinel drone assist to take up space and waste time while Thor does his meter-building taunt.  When I get 4-5 levels, Phoenix comes in to rushdown.  If she dies with 5 levels, she turns into Dark Phoenix and the rushdown continues.  Sentinel drone assist works well here too.  If she dies, I still have Sentinel who is a pretty decent anchor character.  And if I have Thor left – well, I don't really know how to attack with him lol.  He sort of has a good anti-air-ish assist.

I hear Morrigan has a meter-building assist?  You might want to try that to build meter so dormammu can use his awesome hyper combos.  Otherwise, I would put dormammu 2nd, because his black hole assist is so good!  It like takes up all the space in the middle, but I don't know how morrigan plays really – does she have fast projectiles?  I think Dante on point with dormammu black hole assist would be good, because dante can shoot his guns while dormammu controls the space in the middle so it would be hard for people to get in on you.  But I dunno how you'd be able to fight other ppl with guns haha.

I still haven't played that much yet; just unlocked sentinel last night on my xbox.

And don't be afraid to lose!  Get in there and start playing for real.  Everyone's new to the game right now; it's the best time to learn especially when a lot of people who bought this game are moreso comic book fans than fighting game fans.

been playing a lot more this weekend. i'm not so happy with Dante – I think that too many people use him and his moves don't really jive as well with my playstyle as I thought. I may learn him at some point later, but for now he's going back on the bench.

i ended up going with Wolverine, Morrigan, and Dormammu. Been playing some Ranked matches online and doing ok.

I used to love Wolverine in the original X-Men Children of the Atom fighting game, but sort of stopped using him after X-Men vs Street Fighter. He has a new move in Marvel 3 and he's a pretty fast strong character and fits well for me.

Morrigan plays kind of fast as well, but I still need to incorporate her flying a bit more into my game for her to be even more effective. She does have a meter building assist, but the problem with me is I tend to not like using supers much for anyone except Dormammu! I definitely need to work on comboing into supers for Wolvie and Morrigan to get better, but yeah for the most part I'm digging the game and may stick with this team.

What's funny is I also have somewhat of an interest in Spencer now, since his moveset is so simple and the bionic arm reminds me a little bit of Omega Red – one of my favorite characters from MvC2. he's not a fast character though, so I have a hard time replacing morrigan with him. but, maybe he can be on my "just for fun" team heh

Yea it seems like Dante is very popular

The easiest way to combo into super with Logan is to do some ground combo ending with launch, into a few hits in the air (M,M,H) into the air super (the big X).

I haven't tried Morrigan yet so I dunno lol.  All I've been doing really is playing arcade mode with every character just to see what they are like.  We should play some games sometime!  If only we could find the time lol.

A friend of mine said Spencer was good and tricky.  He told me he dropped she-hulk to play Spencer, so maybe that's a good choice!

I'm starting to like spiderman – he's sooo much better than he was in mvc2.

Good games on Friday.  Wolverine and Dormammu are pretty awesome.  Morrigan is pretty fast too, but I think she doesn't do as much damage.

You should incorporate advance guard into your game.  Like when I was sentinel and flying towards you, I would do two air attacks, and sometimes you would block the first one, but then get hit by the second one.  Or if you blocked the second one, I'd still be in your face, attacking.  You could have advance guarded either of the two to get the pressure off to give you room to dark hole or whatever.

ya it was fun. i do need to figure out advance guard a lot more. i think i don't use it as much, because i use it incorrectly or something. i hate how sometimes when i'm blocking, and then i start pushing the buttons to do advance guard, i may hit them too early or something so then i get caught doing an attack and eat the damage instead of pushing the opponent back. not sure how that happens to me, but it happens enough that i don't use it as much as i should. i'll hopefully learn it at some point!
